Breaking It Down

With a jump in the amount of views for this little blog of mine over the past couple of days, I’m feeling an affection for numbers. There’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now, and that is review the costs of my recent trip to India.

FLIGHTS:
Perth-KL-Perth (Air Asia) AUD526
KL-Delhi-KL-Yangon*-KL (Malaysian Airlines) AUD1,098
*Added a stop to visit family.

AIRPORT TRANSFER (G Adventures):
AUD30
*In hindsight this was a necessary luxury for my first time in India. Next time, however, I will take the airport metro to the city for INR80 = AUD1.40.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:
(complimentary with AmEx for 2.97% of my total purchase at the travel agent)
AUD71.64

VISA:
AUD95

TOUR (G Adventures Golden Triangle):
AUD594.15

SOLAR BATH PROJECT FEE:
(includes food, accommodation and transport for 3 weeks)
AUD600

ADDITIONAL MOUNTAIN GEAR added to a scary:
AUD901 :{

TRAVEL DOCTOR, VACCINATIONS + MEDICINES:
(excluding rabies vaccination)
AUD667

EXTRAS (food, activities, travel + souvenirs):
AUD200

TOTAL:
AUD4782.79

Yikes. The power of addition is rather scary. At least next time I won’t have to buy any mountain gear.

  1. Mimi, those are the COSTS! I truly believe however that the (unquantifiable) BENEFITS, in personal terms would surely outweigh the dollar costs! Some opportunities come once in a lifetime! I’m happy for you!
