ALERT THE PRESS!

My first press release! Well, as part of Buratti Fine Art’s upcoming group exhibition. I’m very excited to be amongst such fresh talent. I do hope somebody likes my illustrations enough to purchase them – for my sake and my friend Karys McEwen’s who is doing such a fantastic job curating the show!

This time, however, I came out utterly satisfied and inspired by some captivating works: Continue reading “An arty arvo”

Paintographs?

Some of these photographs are so exquisite it perplexes me that they are not paintings…perhaps paintographs?

Now here I was thinking I’ve stumbled upon a brilliant new term! But of course, like most things in this world, someone else has already thought of it. Here is a description of it from http://www.flickr.com/photos/mark10314/sets/72157603931061380/

“Paintography is a fairly recent invented term. It refers to an original image, usually a photograph that was altered to look like, or to become, a painting. The altering could be done digitally or in a classical way – using paint and brushes. Another way is to use both methods: print an altered image on paper then paint it with oils and brushes.
Gallery owner Martha Higgins stated paintography as: “Photographs that emulate painterly effects, and paintings that use photography as a subject matter”.”

This is today’s top result for a Google search of paintography http://www.paintography.com.au/

Geometry & Silence

Photographs of the mercurial River Thames made during a 10 day walk in August 2012 backpacking and wild camping where possible along 170 miles of the Thames Path from the source near Kemble in Gloucestershire to the City of London, I chose to end my journey on the steps of St Pauls.

Sweet Thames, run softly till I end my song,
Sweet Thames, run softly, for I speak not loud or long
